Vol. 177 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Corporation Housing Grants.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the delay in granting a loan to the Waterford Corporation for the financing of their housing grants.

No undue delay occurred in authorising issue of the loan in question.

What is the amount of the delay?

No undue delay.

What is the extent of a delay that the Minister would consider undue?

The application was made on the 9th July. Sanction by the Minister for Finance was given on the 29th September, the usual period.

Two and a half months.

It was given much more promptly than you were able to deal with these applications. Do you not remember how you dishonoured your commitments in regard to these applications?

Will the Minister sit down for a second and keep some relation to the truth? No commitment was dishonoured by any Government since this State was established. It does not do the Tánaiste any credit to suggest it was, by any Government.

I called Question No. 29.

The Tánaiste should learn to behave himself. He has now been elevated to that position. The Taoiseach should keep him in order.

The Deputy can bottle up his thwarted ambitious.
