Vol. 177 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decisions on Cork Housing Inquiries.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that Cork Corporation's efforts to re-house many deserving cases are being retarded by the failure of his Department to issue their decision on the public enquiry held in respect of the acquisition of land in the Togher Road scheme over four and a half months ago; and when he anticipates that the decision reached as a result of the enquiry will be made available to the Corporation.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. With regard to the second part the report of the Inspector who held the Inquiry is at present under consideration. A decision will be issued as expeditiously as possible.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that Cork Corporation's efforts to re-house many deserving cases are being retarded by the failure of his Department to issue their decision on the public enquiry held in respect of the acquisition of land in the Desmond Square scheme over six months ago; and when he anticipates that the decision reached as a result of the enquiry will be made available to the Corporation.

I am not so aware. The Cork Corporation Desmond Square Area Housing Order No. 2 of 1958 was confirmed on the 3rd October and a copy of the confirming order was issued to the local authority on 12th October.
