Vol. 177 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flood and Coast Erosion in Cork.

38.

asked the Minister for Lands if on his recent visit to Ballycotton he met a deputation of tenants from the Gaskell Estate and other estates in the Ballycotton-Garryvoe district in regard to the alleviation of flooding and coast erosion in the district; and if he intends taking any action in the matter.

On my recent visit to Ballycotton I was approached by a number of tenants in connection with the matters referred to in the Question. Subsequent investigation disclosed, however, that alleviation of the flooding and coast erosion in this district is not the responsibility of the Land Commission. The position under the Land Acts is as set out in the reply to the Deputy's Questions on 22nd July last.

I hope they will get their annuities.
