Vol. 177 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Galway Turbary.

42.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a number of people in Kyleroe East and West and Spiddal are still without turbary plots; and what action the Land Commission propose to take in the matter.

43.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a number of people in Lettermore, Lettercallow, Tiernee and Lettermullen are still without turbary rights; and what action the Land Commission propose to take in the matter.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take questions Nos. 42 and 43 together.

I am aware that, despite the provision by the Land Commission of upwards of 300 turbary plots in South Connemara in recent years, there is still a considerable number of applicants for turbary in the townlands mentioned. All practical steps are being taken by the Land Commission with a view to catering as soon as possible for the needs of those applicants by the acquisition and development of additional bogs in the locality.
