Vol. 179 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Facilities for Fish Transport.

59.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether he is aware of the difficulties encountered by fishermen and lorry owners regarding the transportation of fish from west Cork ports to the Dublin and other markets; and, if so, if he will provide facilities for these people that will enable them to avoid unnecessary transport, inconvenience and expense.

Representations have recently been made to me about the arrangements for the transportation of fish from West Cork to Dublin. I am having the matter examined at the present time. Pending the result of that examination I am unable to say what action, if any, it may be necessary to take in the matter.

When will the Minister be in a position to report? When will the examination now pending take place?

I can only say that the matter will be examined as speedily as possible.
