Vol. 185 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ford Motors: American Take-Over.

35.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether in view of the reported imminence of the American take-over of Ford Motors, including the Ford motor factor at Cork, the Government will, in the interests of the workers concerned and to prevent the possible limitation of activity or complete closure of this factory to suit American economic needs, seek to establish some form of State company on the lines of Irish Steel Holdings, Limited, to acquire and continue to operate the Company as heretofore.

The answer is in the negative. There is no reason to expect that the development referred to will entail any of the adverse consequences envisaged in the question.
