andMr. Corish asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state in respect of the Córas Iompair Éireann superannuation scheme for wages grade employees (a) the number of employees covered, (b) the annual income from employees' contributions and the Board's contributions in each of the last three years, (c) the number of pensioners and the weekly amount paid in pensions in each of the last three years, (d) the number of pensioners in the various categories of pensions, (e) the amount standing to the credit of the scheme at the latest available date and (f) how this money is invested.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate a tabular statement with the Official Report giving the particulars requested by the Deputies.

Following is the statement:—

In addition there are 309 pensioners retired before normal retiral age, who receive pensions varying from 7s. 6d. to 50/2d. per week.

andMr. Corish asked the Minister for Transport and Power if the Board of Córas Iompair Éireann have submitted to him a scheme to amend the wages grade superannuation scheme with a view to giving a substantial increase to the lower-paid pensioners.

The answer is in the negative. I understand, however, that wages grade pensioners of C.I.E. are eligible for contributory old age pensions under the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960.
