Vol. 186 No. 7

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 2, 5, 8, 9 and 10. Private Members' Business will be taken at 9 o'clock. I should perhaps inform the House that the Book of Estimates for the year 1961-62 will be circulated this evening and that it is proposed to take the Vote on Account on Wednesday next. Deputies must appreciate that we are coming to the financial business period now. The Dáil will meet on Tuesday next and on subsequent Tuesdays, as well as on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Is the Taoiseach now able to say when the Easter Recess will occur and how long it will be?

It will be the usual two weeks, I think, but I shall confirm that to the Deputy.

Is the Taoiseach in a position to give any indication of the business he wants to conclude before the Easter Recess?

I shall give that information to the Deputy to-morrow.

I am thinking of a rumour I heard about the Tánaiste. That is what I had in mind.

Certainly, the Mental Treatment Bill must be passed in this financial year if the benefits which are payable under it are to be secured.

It should have been taken before this, so. It is a big Bill.

I deferred to the request of the Labour Party who were particularly interested. I was hoping we would have had it before Christmas.

A lot has happened since Christmas.

Much more will happen before Easter.

It is in what happens before Easter that we are now interested.

It is particularly significant that this was a Bill that the Tánaiste was anxious to get through quickly.

Full of human charity.

I am always willing to meet the wishes of the House.

That is not your "let out."

I only wondered if the Tánaiste found necessity for it himself.
