(1) These are instalment payments made from the loans from the Local Loans Fund as the expenditure is incurred on the schemes in progress.

(2) Subsidy of up to 60% of the annual loan charges (interest and capital repayment) on loans approved for sanitary services schemes is paid from the Vote of the Department of Local Government.

The position as regards the water and sewerage programme for Galway County, is that a water supply survey of the county as a preliminary to the preparation of a comprehensive programme for the improvement of water and sewerage services has been completed in respect of a large part of the county and is well advanced in the remaining area. The results of the survey to date have not as yet been considered by the County Council.

Ten major schemes estimated to cost approximately £300,000 are in progress while sixteen other large-scale water and sewerage schemes estimated to cost approximately £290,000 are in various stages of planning.
