Vol. 188 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Telephone Services.

34.

andMr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the dissatisfaction of telephone subscribers in Limerick City owing to the undue delay in obtaining the trunk call operator; whether he is aware that the telephone staff is overworked and understaffed; and if he will take the necessary steps to alleviate the position.

The answers to the first two parts of the question are in the negative. The speed of answer at Limerick has been generally satisfactory, except in the days immediately before and after Easter when there was heavy seasonal pressure of traffic and occasional abnormal delays could not be avoided.

The staff employed at Limerick exchange is adequate. It will be supplemented as required to meet extra traffic.
