Vol. 190 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois-Offaly Drainage Works.

20.

asked the Minister for Finance the minor drainage works which his Department have listed for clearance in Laois-Offaly; and when it is proposed to commence work on each such scheme.

Seventy-five minor bog drainage works have been sanctioned for execution in Laois-Offaly this summer, and the County Engineers as Agent-Inspectors for the Special Employment Schemes Office have been asked to have them put in hands as soon as possible.

21.

asked the Minister for Finance the rivers surveyed for arterial drainage in Laois-Offaly; and when it is proposed to commence actual drainage work on each such river.

The rivers in the Laois-Offaly area, which are in the catchment areas of the Boyne and Suir, are being surveyed with a view to arterial drainage schemes, but at this stage it is not possible to say when works can be commenced. Works, of course, have been completed on the Brosna and Nenagh River catchments which served that area.
