41.

asked the Minister for Health the number of prosecutions which have been instituted in the Dublin area under the Food Hygiene Regulations in each of the years 1956 to 1960, inclusive.

42.

asked the Minister for Health the number of prosecutions which have been instituted (a) in the Dublin area and (b) in the country as a whole under the Food Hygiene Regulations in the first nine months of 1961.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 40, 41 and 42 together.

Prosecutions for offences under the Food Hygiene Regulations are taken at the instance of health authorities without reference to me and, consequently, the information requested by the Deputy is not available in my Department. It is being sought from health authorities and, if the Deputy repeats the questions in, say, a fortnight's time, I hope to be in a position to furnish him with the required information.
