Vol. 192 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Distribution of Cosmetics and Toilet Preparations.

52.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the injustice done to many chemists and of the inconvenience caused to members of the public by reason of restrictive snobbish practices in the distribution of cosmetics and toilet preparations to the pharmaceutical trade; and if he will request the Fair Trade Commission to enquire into the matter.

The reply to both parts of the Deputy's question is in the negative.

The matter referred to has already been considered by the Fair Trade Commission, and the Commission's views are set out in the report of its inquiry into the conditions which obtain in regard to the supply and distribution of proprietary and patent medicines and infant foods and medical and toilet preparations.
