Vol. 192 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Local Authority Pensions.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make arrangements to have pensions which are being paid to officers or servants of a local authority paid out weekly or fortnightly if requested by the pensioner.

The determination of the intervals at which pension payments are made to retired officers and servants is a matter for each local authority, to whom any representations in relation to the need for changes in existing arrangements should be made.

If a local authority refuses to grant a change in the existing arrangements and say the Department will not allow them to make a change, will the Minister be prepared to contact that local authority and inform them of the position?

If the Deputy has some such case in mind—I am sure he must have—I should be glad if he would let me have particulars.
