Vol. 192 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Westmeath Turbary.

37.

asked the Minister for Lands whether and, if so, when the Land Commission acquired turbary on the Montgomery Estate at Riversdale, Killucan, Co. Westmeath; what was the area acquired; how the turbary is being used at present; and what are the ultimate plans of the Land Commission in respect of the disposal of the turbary.

The residue of bog at Riversdale contains about 170 acres. It has been the subject of seasonal turbary lettings pending further development works. This area was part of some 450 acres acquired in 1942, the balance having been allotted in 1946 and 1948. It is hoped to allot almost all of the residue next Spring.
