Vol. 192 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unsolved Murder Cases.

71.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of the last ten years the names and addresses of persons who have been murdered and for which crimes no person has yet been charged; and if he will make a statement as to the probability that any person is likely to be apprehended in the near future in connection with such murders.

The answer to the first part of the Question is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will appear in the Official Report.

I am not, of course, in a position to make any statement as to the likelihood of arrests being made in connection with these murders, except to say that Garda investigations still continue in relation to all of them.

In view of the period that has elapsed since many of these murders were committed is there any reasonable prospect at this stage that the miscreants will be brought to justice?

The only assurance I can give the House in that regard is that every effort is being made and will continue to be made by the Garda Officers concerned.
