Vol. 192 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Compulsory Purchase Orders.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of compulsory purchase orders at present before him for approval from the Kildare County Council; the areas covered by the orders; and what the present position is in each area.

One compulsory purchase order from the Kildare County Council is before my Department for decision. It covers one site at Kilcullen, four at Newbridge, and one each at Maynooth, Straffan and Celbridge. Objections were lodged in respect of all the sites. It was proposed to hold the usual Local Inquiry last September but this was deferred at the request of the County Council because of negotiations in progress with various objectors. The objections relating to the sites at Newbridge have now been withdrawn and a decision on this part of the order will be issued when the sites have been inspected. Arrangements have been made for the holding of a public local inquiry on the 13th December into the remaining objections.
