asked the Minister for External Affairs if he is aware of the great need for providing welfare facilities for newly-arrived Irish emigrants in Great Britain, particularly the young and immature; and if he will extend assistance, financial and otherwise, to voluntary social welfare organisations catering for emigrants so that they may extend the scope of their present work without hindrance.

I have nothing to add to the reply made by the Taoiseach on my behalf on 23rd November, 1961, to a Parliamentary Question from Deputy Sherwin and to what I said on this subject on 11th July last year in the course of the Debate on the Estimate for my Department.
Is the Minister aware that the activities of the various associations for the welfare of emigrants in Great Britain, which is a very great problem particularly for young people, are very restricted by reason of the lack of funds, that there is a great need for an extension of these activities, and will the Minister indicate his willingness to make funds available for this purpose?
I dealt rather fully with this question just now in my reply to the debate on the Estimate for my Department.
Has the Minister no further interest in the hundreds of teenage children who leave this country every week? That is what it amounts to.
Have their parents any interest in them?
Some of them have no parents.
