asked the Minister for Education whether he will take immediate steps both to increase the number and value of scholarships at present offered on the results of the Intermediate Certificate Examination as recommended by the Council of Education and to rectify the present situation in which a larger number of girls than boys are competing for a smaller number of scholarships of less value than those offered for boys, particularly in view of the fact that the number and value of the scholarships offered on the Intermediate Certificate have not been changed since the year 1929.
