asked the Minister for Defence what authority exists, and to whom is authority given, for the variation or non-acceptance of the findings of a Court of Inquiry properly convened and held.

In accordance with Rules of Procedure (Defence Forces), 1954 (Statutory Instrument No. 243 of 1954) only the Court of Inquiry itself may vary its findings and then only when re-assembled by the convening authority for the purpose of reviewing its findings. There is no obligation on the convening authority or higher authority to accept the findings.
