Vol. 196 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cancer Patients in Galway Hospital.

2.

asked the Minister for Health the number of cancer patients discharged uncured from the Regional Hospital, Galway, each year since 1950.

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department and I understand that it would be difficult to compile accurate statistics in the form sought.

Is the Minister aware that there is a policy of discharging patients suffering from incurable cancer? Will he alter that policy for Christian and human reasons?

I hope that is not a figment of the Deputy's imagination. Making an allegation like that is a serious matter, and the Deputy should make it outside and not under the privilege of the House.

I made it inside and outside the House.

That is a separate matter.

I am not responsible for treating cancer.

I am talking about the discharging of patients.
