asked the Minister for Defence with reference to the case of a retired officer and to replies of 14th June 1962 and of 27th June 1962 if he will now state the grounds upon which it is claimed that the sum of £486 or some part thereof was due and owing by the said officer on the 9th November 1961.

At the time mentioned by the Deputy, the retired officer, as the officer who had been charged with the safe custody of the stores which were stolen or otherwise deficient, had a financial responsibility, which could amount to £486 approximately, in relation to the losses.
