asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided in order (a) to clean the bog drain from the county road culvert north of John Campion's house, west and south by John Campion's turf bank to Thomas Grime's bank and to construct a new drain to John Behan's bank, and (b) to construct a new bog drain from the bog drain in Graham bog, County Tipperary, at the late Mr. Morris's bank, east by Denis Walsh's bank to Michael Ryan's bank, at Lisduff, Errill, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided in order (a) to recondition the bog drain from the bog drain at William Ryan's cutaway, west to David Treacy's turf bank and to construct a new drain west to John Percy's bank, and (b) to clean the bog drain from the Brook one thousand yards west of Mrs. McEvoy's house, north by Timothy Dowling's bank, branch west to George Southern's bank at Monamonra, Errill, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided in order (a) to recondition the bog drain from Trumera stream at Mary Holland's lands, north by Fintan Dunne's turf bank to Thomas Dann's bank, and (b) to clean the bog drain from the county road culvert north of Patrick Hosey's house, north to the county road cul vert near the ruins of Larry Kavanagh's house, east by Peter Haslem's turf bank and south to Thomas Dann's bank, at Trumera, Mountrath, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from Coolnafearagh bog drain, County Kildare through George Lark's turf bank to Clonanny bog drain at Hugh Leary's bank and upstream to J.B. Tedcastle's bank at Clonanny, Portarlington, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of money he has provided in order to clean the bog drain from Cottoner's Brook, north-west by Birch Trees to near Thomas McCormack's turf bank, branch north-west to Patrick McEvoy's bank and branch north to Thomas Conroy's bank at Upper and Lower Forest, Mountmellick, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from the "Burrow Road" bridge west and north to Lacka bog boundary, west to Ballyhorahan bog at George Sydd's bank and the link drain from Jack Burke's bank east to Dan Phelan's bank at Glenbower, Clonin, Mountrath, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from the bridge on the county road at Richard Finn's house, upstream south along the townland boundary to face banks, at Ross, Portlaoise, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided for cleaning the bog drain from the main bog drain at the bend of the bog road at Mrs. Rourke's land, south to Patrick Quinn's turf bank at Ross, Portlaoise, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided for cleaning the bog drain from the Blackwater River to Peter Conroy's turf bank and the branch drain from the main drain opposite John Keating's second railway gate east to John Keating's turf bank near Portlaoise county road, at Clonsaughey, Portlaoise; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money he has provided in order (a) to recondition the bog drain from the county road culvert 180 years north of Mrs. Troy's house, west to Henry Justin's turf bank and south to Henry Aylin's bank and (b) to recondition the bog drain from the county road culvert 180 yards north of Mrs. Troy's house, north and west to William Troy's bank, north to James Connolly's turf bank and south towards Thomas Justin's bank; and if he will have this drainage work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay at Clonreher, Portlaoise, where there is a general demand for this work from local turf cutters.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided for cleaning of the bog drain from the county road culvert west of Mrs. Rafter's house, east to the bog at Thomas Dunne's turf bank, at Coolnacartan, Clonkeen, Portlaoise, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from the main Clonad drain at Mrs. Fennelly's land east to Edward Wynne's turf bank in Cashel bog, Ballyroan, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from John Coss's turf bank south and east to John Collier's bank at boundary of Marnell's bog at Rushall, Castletown, Mountrath, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to undertake the drainage of the bog drains: (a) from the Black Stick drain near Mr. John Kelly's house, east and north to Mr. Thomas Anderson's turf bank, (b) from the Black Stick drain and the mill race south of the Black Stick drain, east by Mr. Michael McGrath's turf bank to Mr. John Glennon's bank, (c) the required branch drains west to the Black Stick drain in Abbeyleix demesne, County Laois, and (d) the bog drain from the Black Stick opposite Mr. Joseph Casey's house north-east to Mr. Michael Cuddy's turf bank; if he will state the amount of money provided by his Department for this work; and if it will be completed without delay.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to clean the drain from the Triogue River at Thomas Dunne's house west to the Portlaoise-Mountmellick county road near Mrs. Troy's house at Rossleaghan, Portlaoise, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from the Iry-Ross boundary drain one hundred and sixty yards north of bog face, west to Michael Bourke's turf bank and from the Iry-Ross boundary at George Broomfield's bank, west and south to Jeremiah Brophy's bank, at Iry, Ballyfin, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

29.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to clean the bog drain from where the maintained work stopped on the Killeany boundary drain at Patrick Phelan's land, north-west by Richard Worrell's bog to the county road at Thomas Murphy's land, at Camcloon, Kilbricken, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from the river at Mrs. Grace's land, east under the railway line through Mrs. Morgan's land, north-west and north to William Delaney's turf bank in "Woodstreet Bog", with branch south to Michael Keeffe's bank, at Colt, Ballyroan, County Laois; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the necessity for the cleaning of the bog drain from the Owenbeg River at Grennan north upstream to the bog road opposite Oldtown-Abbeyleix county road junction; if he will state the amount of money provided for this important drainage work; and if he will cause it to be completed with the least possible delay.

32.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to lower and reconstruct the culvert on Michael Whelan's land and to recondition the bog drain from this bog road culvert, east by Joseph Brooks's land, north to Michael Kelly's turf bank and from the boundary of Finlay's and Whelan's land north by James Connor's bank and east to Michael Kelly's bank; and if he will have this work undertaken and completed with the least possible delay at Clonkeen, Portlaoise, County Laois in view of its urgency.

33.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money he has provided in order to recondition the bog drain from near Joseph Phelan's house north to Con Delaney's turf bank, east to Matthew Hyland's bank, and the branch drains north to John Dowling's and Jacob Fairbrother's banks, at Caher, Coolrain, Mountrath, County Laois; and when it is proposed to have this urgent drainage work carried out.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 13 to 33 together, and, as the reply includes a tabular statement, I propose, also with his permission, to have the reply circulated with the Official Report.

The county engineer, as agent-inspector of the Special Employment Schemes Office, was authorised on 22nd June, 1962, to carry out these works and was requested to put them in hands as soon as possible.
