Vol. 196 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Headage Grants.

40.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to a statement made at a committee meeting of North Tipperary Committee of Agriculture that there seems to be a mix-up in the tag numbers of the Department and of the owners; and if this is the cause of the delay in making payment of headage grant to farmers concerned.

I am aware of the statement referred to. In a very small number of cases, the failure of applicants for headage grants to comply with the necessary requirements or to give the correct eartag numbers etc. has necessitated investigation. In each such case the headage grant is paid as soon as the admissibility of the application is established. Each investigation is carried out as quickly as practicable.
