Vol. 197 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Resort Development Scheme.

15.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that none of the centres selected for development under the £1,000,000 major resort development scheme succeeded in getting very good ratings in the tidy towns competition; who is responsible for deciding which towns should be selected for development; who draws up the schemes; and what supervision there is as to how the money is spent.

I understand that a number of entries for towns in the selected resort development areas of Donegal and West Cork earned an "exceptionally good" rating and that seven out of the twelve major resorts were highly commended.

The administration of the major resort development scheme, including the selection of resorts for development, is the responsibility of Bord Fáilte.
