Vol. 197 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Factory Noise Regulations.

20.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what are the present regulations with regard to the level of noise in factories; and what steps are taken by his Department to ensure that such regulations are complied with.

There are no regulations in force under the legislation administered by my Department relating to the level of noise in factories. It has not been represented to me that such regulations are necessary nor does the information available in my Department indicate a need for them.

Would the Minister consider making a regulation about the back of Leinster House where the noise that is going on there for the past fortnight is driving us mad?

The Deputy might consider taking other action himself in the Committee on Procedure and Privileges.

I thought the Minister was going to suggest that I should assault the contractor.
