The average number of persons on the Live Register at the middle of each month of 1962 was 46,569. The percentage unemployed is calculated by relating the number of currently insured persons on the live register, excluding those in agriculture, fishing and private domestic service, to the estimated corresponding currently insured population. This figure for the year 1962 was 5.7 per cent.
