Vol. 200 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Return of Skim Milk to Kerry Farmers.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that grave dissatisfaction is felt by the milk suppliers to the Dairy Disposal Company in the Castlemaine and Inch districts, County Kerry, owing to the fact that separated skim milk is not returned to them until the day following the supplying of whole milk, which practice involves hardship to the suppliers who have to provide two sets of tankers, etc., and to the fact that such suppliers get infrequent and irregular accounts of their supplies from the Company; and whether he will investigate these practices with a view to ensuring the return of separated skim milk on the same day as the supply of whole milk, and the provision of regular and frequent accounts to suppliers.

The milk cartage arrangements provided in this area are the best that the Dairy Disposal Company has been able to devise in the local circumstances but I am assured by the Company that it would welcome any practical suggestions for improving the system.
