asked the Minister for Local Government the number of local authority houses completed in North Tipperary during the past year, the number at present under construction and the number which it is proposed to build during the coming year.

Tipperary NR County Council completed 8 houses during the year ended 28th February, 1963 and had 25 houses in progress at that date. The other housing authorities in North Tipperary, viz. Nenagh, Templemore and Thurles urban district councils did not complete any houses during that period nor had they any under construction at 28th February last.
As I explained to the Deputy in reply to a question on 6th November last, housing authorities have full discretion in the preparation of their programmes and while I am aware that plans for further houses by the county council and by Nenagh and Thurles urban district councils are at various stages of preparation, I am not in a position at this stage to state the number of houses which will reach the building stage during the coming year.
