Vol. 202 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Petrol Station.

57.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of a proposal to erect a petrol filling station on Goatstown Road, Dublin, and of the strong objection by residents of the district to this proposal; and what action he intends taking in the matter.

I assume the Deputy's question relates to the construction of a petrol filling station at Trimbleston House, Goatstown. I understand that planning permission for this proposal was granted by the Dublin County Council on 23rd August, 1962. An appeal was lodged in my Department on behalf of local residents on the 11th of the present month but as it was not received within the prescribed period of one month, it is not open to me to consider it. The period within which an appeal against a planning permission must be lodged is statutory and I have no power to extend it.

Under the Town and Regional Planning Bill at present before the Dáil, will the Minister have that power?

Not in late appeals. The statutory time applies.
