Vol. 204 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recognition of Six-County Teaching Service.

59.

asked the Minister for Education if he has yet come to a decision in regard to the recognition for incremental purposes of teaching service given in schools in the Six-Counties.

I am glad to be able to state that I have decided that in case of primary, secondary and vocational teachers incremental credit up to a maximum of five increments will be allowed for approved teaching service given in the Six Counties in or after the school year, 1962-63.

Will that concession extend to teachers who have given service in Great Britain?

That was not in the question. I am afraid I cannot answer supplementaries outside the scope of the question, because I have not got that information.

If the concession has not been extended—

If the Deputy would raise his voice, I could hear his remarks.

There are so many raised voices it might be no harm. If the concession has not been extended as yet on the same basis to teachers who have been giving service in Great Britain, perhaps the Minister would consider including them when giving this concession in respect of teachers who have given service in the Six Counties?

I shall convey the Deputy's views to my colleague.
