Vol. 205 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Sligo Water Supply.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a piped water supply is to be extended from Sligo town by Sligo Corporation through the townland of Carraroe, but that five householders requiring merely domestic supplies of water have been refused permission to connect with the proposed extension; and if he will make a statement on this matter.

No proposal for an extension of the water supply from Sligo borough to the townland of Carraroe has been submitted to my Department. I understand, however, that the corporation have agreed to allow the county council to take a temporary supply to serve a new school and church in the area. The corporation have stipulated that no other connections should be taken from the extension because of inadequate pressure in the Sligo borough supply. The council have proposals under consideration for a permanent piped water supply to serve the Carraroe area.
