A drainage project for the South Dublin area which would involve closing a section of the Grand Canal was submitted to my Department by Dublin Corporation. The proposal has been referred back to the Corporation for reconsideration as regards the technical basis of the scheme itself and its general planning implications and for investigation of possible alternative solutions.
