Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Postal Deliveries.

102.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why letters posted in the central Dublin City area in time to be collected on the first collection daily are not delivered in the Dublin suburbs of Crumlin, Drimnagh, Ballyfermot and Walkinstown on the afternoon of the same day, while letters posted in the same letter boxes at the same times are delivered on the same day in the suburbs of Rathmines, Rathgar and Terenure; and if he will state why letters posted in time for the first collection in the said suburbs are delivered at central city addresses on the same day if posted in Rathgar, Rathmines and Terenure, but are not delivered until the following day if posted in Drimnagh, Crumlin, Ballyfermot and Walkinstown.

I do not accept the suggestion of discrimination implied in the Deputy's question. Morning collections in the Dublin city and suburban area connect with afternoon deliveries throughout the same area.
