Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Reception in Tramore.

107.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that reception from Radio Éireann in the Tramore area is most unsatisfactory; and if he will take steps to have this state of affairs remedied.

I am aware that the reception of the Radio Éireann sound programme is not satisfactory in the Tramore area, particularly after dark when interference from foreign stations becomes pronounced. As I said in reply to a question on 4th December, 1963, the Broadcasting Authority is at present giving special attention to the problem of unsatisfactory radio reception in certain areas. It is hoped that a solution will be found shortly and provision is being made in the Broadcasting Authority (Amendment) Bill, 1963, in respect of the capital cost of whatever proposals are approved.
