Vol. 207 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Residents on Dublin Estate.

10.

asked the Minister for Education if he will give details of the alternative housing arrangements for the residents on the Albert College estate, Dublin who may move to Celbridge, County Kildare, or who may not wish to live in the Celbridge area; if the present estate residents will be permitted to live on the estate should they not wish to move; and if the authorities are willing to provide resettlement and disturbance allowances for the residents concerned.

It is presumed that the persons the Deputy has in mind are employees, at the Albert College, of University College, Dublin. Accordingly, the questions raised by the Deputy are matters between the employees concerned and the authorities of University College.

The Minister has a function to see that the rights of these employees, some of whom have been in this employment for a very considerable number of years, are protected.

I do not know whether their rights are threatened or not but I have no function in this matter. It is a matter between employees of University College and the authorities of University College. I have no function.
