Vol. 207 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mineral Exploration in Tipperary and Waterford.

5.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has under consideration at present any proposals for mineral exploration in South Tipperary and West Waterford; if so, if he will state in each case where the exploration is to take place; and what type of exploration is envisaged.

Apart from four prospecting licences which I have already granted, I have under consideration at present applications for twelve prospecting licences over different parts of South Tipperary and West Waterford. The localities to which the prospecting licence applications relate are Bunmahon, Lismore and Stradbally in County Waterford and Tipperary, Dundrum, Cullen and Cappaghwhite in County Tipperary. The methods of exploration proposed to be employed include geological, geochemical and geophysical surveys which will be followed by drilling where circumstances so warrant.
