Within the past two months, I have had Defence Force Regulations amended so as to provide that all Lieutenants of the Reserve of Officers (First Line) are eligible for promotion to the rank of Captain, subject to certain conditions as to service and attendance at annual training.
In view of the organisation and requirements of this class of the Reserve, I do not consider that there is any need to make further provision as requested by the Deputy.
The question of increasing annual grants is under consideration. I am unable to give any indication as to what the outcome may be, or when a decision is likely to be reached.
