asked the Minister for Local Government if the Laois County Council have applied for a subsidy towards the extension of water and sewerage facilities to their proposed public building sites at Moneybally-tyrell, Portlaoise; and, if so, when sanction will issue.

An application from Laois County Council for subsidy towards the cost of this extension was submitted on 16th April and is under consideration.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the Laois County Council have made an application for permission to purchase a housing site from the Department of Lands at Aughamaddock, Stradbally, County Laois; when this application was made; and when sanction is likely to issue.

A proposal by Laois County Council to acquire lands at Aughamaddock, Stradbally, for housing purposes was submitted to my Department for approval on 22nd November, 1963, and additional information which the local authority were requested to submit to enable the matter to be examined was received on 28th February, 1964. A letter has been issued to the local authority indicating that the location of the site in relation to sewerage facilities is not satisfactory and suggesting that consideration should be given to the acquisition of an alternative site which could be served by public piped water and sewerage facilities.
