asked the Taoiseach the number of registered unemployed and the number in receipt of unemployment assistance, unemployment benefit or registered for work in each of the following offices of his Department: (a) Carlow, (b) Athy, (c) Rathdowney, (d) Portlaoise, (e) Portarlington and (f) Tullamore on the latest date for which records are available.

With your permission Sir, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the number on the live register at the local offices specified on Saturday 16 May, 1964, distinguishing claimants to unemployment benefit, applicants for unemployment assistance and others on the live register.

Following is the statement:
