Vol. 212 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Estates.

59.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of the Palmer Estate, Rush, County Dublin, whether the Land Commission have completed arrangements to purchase all or a portion of the land in the estate; and, if so (a) whether the land will be divided amongst local deserving applicants before the end of the year, (b) whether any portion of the land acquired will be available for other purposes, (c) the proposed estimated average acreage of each allocation and (d) the estimated average annuity or loan repayable per acre.

Agreement has been reached for the purchase by the Land Commission of portion, comprising some 260 acres, of this estate and arrangements are being made to take possession at an early date. Pending formulation of proposals for disposal of the property, it is not possible to furnish the particulars sought in parts (a) to (d) of the question.

60.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Ennis and Sweetman Estates, County Dublin, are being let; and, if so, (a) whether the letting was by auction or private treaty and (b) if he will state the letting price (1) for grazing and (2) for conacre; and if he will state the reasons for the delay in dividing these estates.

61.

asked the Minister for Lands (a) the reason for the delay in dividing the Kennedy Estate acquired by the Land Commission at Coolquay, The Ward, County Dublin, (b) whether these lands are at present being let, and, if so, (1) what is the letting price per acre, (2) the date on which such letting will terminate and (3) the total acreage of the estate to be divided.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 60 and 61 together.

As intimated in my replies to the Deputy's previous questions on 3rd and 11th March last, the Ennis and Sweetman Estates (276 acres) and the Kennedy Estate (279 acres) did not vest in the Land Commission until 12th December and 7th June of last year. The lands were let by public auction, the approximate letting prices per acre being £9.10.0 and £11.10.0 for grazing and conacre, respectively. Conacre lettings expired on 1st October, 1964 and grazing lettings will terminate on 1st December next. It is hoped that schemes of division for these lands will be formulated by next Spring.
