Vol. 212 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Farm Poisons.

99.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to reports regarding possible toxic hazards to humans and animals arising from the use of the farm poison fluoracetamide; and if it is proposed to ask Comhairle na Nimheanna to make regulations controlling the use of Tritox and similar poisonous substances.

As indicated in the reply to a Parliamentary question on this subject on 4th March last, steps were taken to ensure withdrawal of the only material on sale here which contained fluoracetamide. All supplies of this material, namely Tritox, were in fact recalled from stockists. I understand that Comhairle na Nimheanna has been considering the question of regulations in regard to poisons generally, including fluoracetamide.
