Vol. 212 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turkey Supplies

100.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what supplies of home-reared turkeys are likely for Christmas; and if he will indicate the minimum price producers may hope to get.

The indications are that the quantity of turkeys for export will be appreciably less than last year and it seems likely that prices to producers should be rather better than last year. Of course, forecasts of this kind are hazardous, but this is the best assessment of the prospects that I can make at present.

Can the Minister indicate the minimum price?

No, but prices should be a little better than last year.

They will not like that in North East Dublin.

Leave that to me. I shall look after that.

Wait until Deputy Corry is Minister for Agriculture. He has come another step nearer now.
