Vol. 213 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Walkinstown Cross (Dublin) Traffic Hazard.

30.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if, having regard (a) to the serious traffic hazard caused by the present state of Walkinstown Cross, Dublin where seven roads meet and (b) to the risk of serious injury to pedestrians there by reason of the absence of footpaths, he will have steps taken to have the reconstruction of the cross-roads undertaken as a matter of urgency.

A scheme put forward by the Dublin County Council for the provision of a roundabout at Walkinstown Cross was approved by my Department in 1958 but acquisition difficulties have prevented the execution of the scheme. I understand that the council are endeavouring to overcome this difficulty with a view to early commencement of the work.
