asked the Minister for Local Government when a grant from the Road Fund was sanctioned by his Department for the construction of a roundabout at Walkinstown, Dublin; whether he considers that an excessive period of time has elapsed from that date to complete the formalities with regard to this proposal; and when it is likely that this proposal will be proceeded with.

A scheme for the provision of a roundabout at Walkinstown was approved by my Department in 1958 for execution under a grant of that year. I understand that the acquisition difficulties which are preventing the execution of the scheme relate to some extent to the reluctance of the county council to displace the occupier of a cottage on the site because he is very old. In the circumstances I would not like to express an opinion as to whether the time which has elapsed from the approval of the scheme is excessive, nor can I say when the work is likely to proceed.
