Vol. 214 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Air Letter Forms.

63.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that other States issue air letters at Christmas time with Christmas motifs imprinted thereon in lieu of ordinary postage stamps; and if, having regard to the devotion of Irish people to the great Christian festival and the large number of emigrants who would be glad to receive such air letters at Christmas time, he will have such issued here.

64.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have air letter forms issued with postage stamps printed thereon and thereby avoid the necessity of having to affix adhesive stamps.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 63 and 64 together.

The production here of stamped air letter forms similar to those used in certain other countries has already been considered but the advantages are not sufficient to warrant a change in the existing arrangements or to justify the production of special forms for use at Christmas.
