Vol. 216 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply Schemes.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding each of the following water schemes and the probable date of commencement of work on each scheme: (a) Ballysimon, (b) Doon, and (c) Kilbehenny, County Limerick.

No proposals for the provision of water supplies for Ballysimon or Doon have been submitted to my Department by Limerick County Council. A preliminary report for Kilbehenny water supply scheme was received in my Department on 19th May and is at present being examined. I am not in a position to say when work on these schemes will commence.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether it is a fact that Waterford County Council have recently changed their policy in regard to the provision of piped water supplies in certain areas in West Waterford; if so, what areas will be affected, and what alternative proposals the county council have instead of the proposed piped water supply; and what stage had been reached in the proposed provision of piped water supplies and what cost had already been incurred prior to the council's change of policy.

I am not so aware, but I have asked Waterford County Council for a full report. I shall inform the Deputy in due course of the outcome.
