The dental benefit scheme under the Social Welfare Acts provides for the supply of dentures to qualified insured persons at controlled prices subject to a contribution by the insured person according to a fixed scale of charges. Regulations made under the Health Acts enable local health authorities to make a payment towards the amount of the contribution payable by a person in the lower income group who obtains dentures under my Department's scheme. Accordingly I do not propose to alter the appropriate regulations.
