asked the Taoiseach the average weekly wage paid to male workers employed in each category production transportable goods in 1938 and 1964.
Written Answers. - Average Weekly Wages.
Particulars of the earnings of industrial workers classified according to sex are collected at the annual Census of Industrial Production only, in respect of a week in October. The latest Census data available for earnings of industrial workers in all industries producing transportable goods relate to October 1962. Data on earnings of industrial workers, not classified according to sex, are collected quarterly in respect of a week in the last month of each quarter.
The following statement gives particulars for each industry of the average earnings of (a) male industrial workers 18 years and over for a week in October 1938 and October 1962 and (b) all industrial workers for a week in September 1962 and September 1964.
The industrial classification used in 1962 was not identical with that used in 1938.
