Vol. 217 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Restaurant and Café Prices.

31.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether there are any regulations regarding charges in cafés which prohibit a café owner from advertising one price outside his premises and charging a different price inside; and, if so, what they are.

32.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what action can be taken against restaurant proprietors who advertise one price for food or snacks outside their premises and charge prices in excess of the advertised price to the customer in the shop; and if he can take any steps to eliminate this practice which could have an unfavourable reaction on tourism.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 31 and 32 together.

Charges by restaurants and cafés are not subject to control.

I have not received any complaints about the practice referred to by the Deputy. If the Deputy furnishes me with particulars of any such malpractices I shall have them investigated.
